Brows have become something BIG in the last 5 years. Penciling, shading, tattooing, individuals everywhere are taking it upon themselves to achieve fuller, bolder brows. Microblading, particularly, has taken the spotlight due to the natural looking hair strokes and the fact that they are semi-permanent.
At the medspa I work at, Samantha had been perfecting her practice for several months before touching clients. She did her training out of state through Brow Design International. There she received her credentials as a highly trained artist in eyebrow micropigmentation. Just like with anything, it is super critical to do your research on your artist making sure they are certified and have achieve all of the necessary credentials.
This is my personal experience being microbladed and what I know from being in the industry.

Prior...
A consultation takes place first to go through expectations and health history to ensure you are a proper candidate for the procedure.
Sparse brows or not, microblading is for all types. I would pencil and powder in my brows on a daily basis for a little more fullness and boldness. Regardless, I did have a little something there to work with.

Right Before The Procedure...
Following the pre-instructions, I made sure I did not consume alcohol the previous night and did not take aspirin the days leading up to my appointment. I wore only my favorite lightweight Obagi tinted spf and a little bit of ZO Skin Health's Hydrafirm underneath my eyes.
Sam thoroughly cleaned above, beneath, and all around my eyebrows. Then we started measuring. She pulled out a tool that measures where exactly each brow should start, arch, and end on your face. Of course, brows are meant to be sisters and not twins so getting them super symmetrical is nearly impossible but this tool makes them pretty darn close to matching. She also made sure the alignment was correct with a digital measuring tool.

During The Procedure...
After perfecting and agreeing on the shape, Samantha put a sterile hair net on me and wiped off the excess markings near my brows. A boarder was left and within that boarder she put a topical numbing cream. After a few minutes she began microblading my eyebrows in a proper sterilized setting. It felt exactly like how you would imagine, slicing into the skin. And it was even harder due to the fact that you can't make any facial expressions. She advised me it gets better after the first pass from the numbing cream being allowed to go deeper into the skin. To my surprise, it did get better through the next two passes.
After The Procedure...
Right after being microbladed my brows looked so perfect and boldly defined. The boldness might be a little much for others but rest assured, they fade a bit as they continue to heal. I was given a post instruction sheet to which I needed to strictly follow in order to ensure my results. Aquaphor became my bestie as I had to reapply as directed for a certain length of time. Working out was out of the question for 10 days post procedure. I also needed to avoid spending time in the sun until they healed. Were they noticeable? Nope! They just glistened a little due to the tiny amount of Aquaphor I put on them.
After a week and a half of healing they eventually began to fade a bit. Samantha advised me this was normal and that they weren't complete until after the touch-up. Around 6 weeks after you go in for a touch up which helps to drive the pigment further into the epidermis. This is included with the original price. My touch up lasted about an hour in comparison to the initial appointment which can last anywhere from 2-3 hours. Pain wise, it went a lot better.

I definitely recommend microblading to anyone wanting to simplify their routine. It is such a time saver to wake up with lashes and brows and be out the door in 20 minutes. I used to spend a lot of time when getting ready trying to pencil in and match my brows to one another. My results should last me anywhere between 1-3 years as they are semi-permanent. Of course things like lifestyle and proper post care can effect the longevity of microbladed brows. My biggest advice to anyone thinking about getting microblading done is to do your research. Make sure your artist is certified and practices proper sanitation standards. Also, ask to see pictures of before and after healing.
