I see a lot of clients this time of year, all of which primarily have the same issue - dryness.
Having dry skin can affect the way your skin absorbs product and retains moisture. Due to a top layer of excessive dead skin, your treatment serums and moisturizers cannot penetrate to the depth they should. Instead, they float on top of that dead skin. Flakiness, peeling, and sensitivity are things that should be accounted for. If the skin is sensitive and/or chapped, I advise leaving it alone or seeing a dermatologist. Depending on the type of skin dryness one may be experiencing this winter, there are numerous treatments and rituals that can help counteract the issue.

Hydrafacial
Hydrafacials are perfect all year round. It is a dynamic combination of manual and chemical exfoliants along with antioxidant and hyaluronic acid infusion. Clients leave feeling lighter and fresher - almost like after going to the dentist but for your skin.
Proper Products
As talked about above, exfoliation must happen in order for moisturizers and treatment products to set in properly. Using a toner after washing day and night definitely goes a long way. Toners not only sweep away dead skin but they also reset the skin's pH.
Here are some toners I love and recommend

After clearing away superficial dead skin, replenishment is essential. Hyaluronic acid is something to look for when purchasing a moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally reoccurring substance in the body. It's what is responsible for holding the plumpness and securing the skin's moisture barrier.
Here are some moisturizers I love and recommend, including Skin Medica's popular HA5.

Dermaplane
Dermaplaning is scraping away dead skin and vellus hair with a surgical blade. This would not be a corrective treatment for someone with any sensitivity, dry skin or not. Dermaplaning may include a hydrating mask and treatment serums to follow exfoliation for a replenishing finish.
Proper Diet
Foods and drinks that may cause dehydration in the body and skin include but are not limited to: alcohol, caffeine, high protein intake, processed foods, asparagus, high sodium foods, and sugary drinks.
Foods that aid in hydration are many fruits and vegetables, some of which can account for 20% of daily H2O intake. Hydration by drinking adequate amounts of water is also a fail safe in keeping the body and skin functioning properly.

Clarisonic
The Clarisonic brush is a facial cleansing device that vibrates to clean and exfoliate the skin. Think of it like an electric toothbrush but for the face. There are different types of devices and brushes based on the consumer's skin type. This brush is a great additive for any at home skin regime.

Lips Need Love Too
Dry, cracked, peeling lips are one of the worst things about a dry environment. Sometimes normal lip balm just doesn't do the trick. That's when advanced therapy formulas come to the rescue.
