"Why would God make humans with hair there?" - one of the funny but frequent questions I hear from clients. Our creator didn't really intend on an aesthetically pleasing pattern of hair but we were mostly born into it from a basic layout of survival.
Skin conditions as well as hair growth can vastly be affected by hormones and/or genetic predisposition. The amount, thickness, and placement of hair can go all across the map from the time people hit puberty through the age of menopause.

Waxing
Like a band-aid from hell, waxing takes care of everything from facial hair to body hair. Waxing is great if done continuously and over time, can even help stunt hair growth to a degree. Clients should have 2 weeks of hair growth or 1/4 of an inch of hair length before waxing. Waxing cycles are usually every 4-6 weeks depending on the individual's hair growth.
Adverse effects can happen due to type of wax, temperature, the skin's natural response, and if performed by a non-professional. Effects would include: breakout, burn, loss of skin, infection, sensitivity, pinkness, allergic reactions, and/or ingrown hairs. To avoid any adverse reactions make sure you are a good candidate: non-thin skin, no fresh sun/artificial tanning, non-sensitive skin. Also, go to a professional who uses sanitary practices and the right type of waxing techniques. Lastly, following post instructions helps to ensure minimal to no reaction. I always advise my clients to wear loose fitting clothing, avoid lotions/oils/scrubs/scented products for 48 hours post waxing, do not sweat or apply makeup same day of waxing, no sun/artificial tanning 2 days after, and gently exfoliate with a wash cloth in the shower the next day.

Chemical Dipilatory
"Nair" and "Veet" were supposed to be the answers to my hairy prayers back in middle school. Although not as successful for the coarse hairs that grew on my legs, I could imagine it working mildly better on a thinner hair type.
Chemical dipilatory products work through acids in the topically that help to break down bonds of the hair. While sitting for the roughly 10 minutes, users will often feel tingling or burning. After the time is up, it should be removed with a warm washcloth and the area rinsed afterwards.
Since the hairs are chemically dissolved at the surface, they won't stay away as long as other methods that remove the hair by the root or damage the follicle.

Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of my favorite methods of hair clearance mostly due to it being semi-permanent and virtually painless. Older technologies were a bit more painful in the delivery system: point, click, zap, ouch! However, newer machines have a heat, in-motion delivery system that makes it very tolerable. Laser hair removal clients can also expect no downtime post procedure.
A lot of factors go into laser hair removal including the area, time between treatments, strength of follicle, color of hair, and candidate's genetic layout.
It is very important that the interested party does their research - Who is doing my treatment? What type of credentials do they have? What type of laser are they using? Are their prices too low or too high in comparison to other places? All establishments should require a consultation beforehand to make sure you are a good candidate and there are no contraindications. Contraindications may include certain medical conditions, medications that cause photo-sensitivity, sun exposure, and antibiotic use.
Amount of sessions needed will depend on various factors of each individual person. Usually at least 7-10 sessions are needed that can guarantee at least 80-90% clearance. Touch ups once or twice a year is suggested as well due to the body constantly producing hormones. Also, different hormonal factors like pregnancy can promote more hair growth after the fact.

Dermaplane
Did you know as fetuses, we are hairy all over? In gestation starting at 6 weeks, we are covered in a thick hair called lanugo. Normally, we shed this hair at 7-8 months of gestation but some may linger after birth. Once this hair is shed, it is replaced by vellus hair. Vellus hair is much more finer and lighter, often called "peach fuzz." Once puberty hits, vellus hair is replaced by a thicker type called terminal hair. Terminal hair is formed in specific areas and is hormone driven.
Vellus facial hair is extremely common in adult women. Dermaplane facials can temporarily remove this hair with less irritation as opposed to waxing. Dermaplaning is also a great option for those who cannot do laser hair removal due to the hair being too fine or not being dark enough.
The process involves properly prepping the skin and using a modified surgical blade to "shave" off dead skin and vellus hair. This procedure may be performed every 4-6 weeks as the hair grows back. It does not disrupt anything internally, therefore, not making the hair grow back thicker or darker. This procedure also does not work well on terminal (thick) hair areas such as beards, leg hair, axillary hair, etc.
